100 Reasons (and more) to stay quiet in the hallways

Nick’s twin sister, Autumn, is a Middle School art teachers in the Bronx. Today she scolded a student for not walking quietly in the hallways and told him he would have to stay after school. He spent all of his math class making this list and then brought it to her and said, “Miss Divers, I just got to 50, but do I still have to stay after class?”

Here is said list, “100 Reasons and more to stay quiet in the hallways”:

1. PBIS expectation (the school’s discipline system)
2. Show that we are a respectful school.
3. We share the school.
4. I can get out of control
5. To keep the line orgined
6. So we could take a break from talking
7. Follow rules
8. It might bother someone
9. it might bother someone with a headache
10. You could get a referral
11. It could escalate to fight
12. You might say something mean
13. Your friend might make you dance
14. You might go out of control and hit a P.S. 160 student (the elementary school they share with)
15. Somebody can be talking on a phone while everybody is talking distracting the teachers
16. By accident you can hit a teacher
17. You can hit a visitor
18. You can hit a parent
19. An adult could be talking on a phone and cannot hear
20. A person could be hurt with an injury for life
21. Adults won’t send kids to that school
22. Somebody drop food
23. The stairwell has an echo
24. Kids would think they can do what they want
25. Block doors
26. Break windows
27. Somebody could break an electronic
28. Could interrupt a class
29. Somebody could spill food
30. Somebody could die
31. Somebody could lose money
32. Could break a laptop
33. We could say bad language
34. We could say bad langugae and kids could learn it
35. Somebody could harass someone
36. Somebody could touch someone in a bad way
37. Get in trouble and stay after school
38. You could hit a pregnant woman (?)
39. Could get suspended
40. It is PBIS rules
41. A fire drill could happen
42. A fire could happen
43. Nobody could get thru
44. Somebody could get stains
45. Structure could get broken
46. Somebody could do something illegal
47. Somebody could hurt themselves
48. Somebody could hold up for class or lunch
49. Somebody could still lunch
50. Somebody could lose belonging

Oh boy, kids make the darndest lists!
